IV Catheter Assembly System Case Study

IMPROVING UPTIME & THROUGHPUT. INCREASED OEE AT 200 PPM

The Challenge

Our customer is a global leader in IV therapy; 80% of patients in hospital receive IV therapy during their stay.

Their internal analysis determined a standalone system for automated seal/slitting would improve uptime on their IV catheter assembly system. However, the customer had significant issues with their inspection processes on multiple parts at high speeds. When a seal slit failure occurred, they had to scrap their entire IV catheter assembly system.

The customer needed a consistent, reliable solution for long-term, high-speed production.

The ATS Solution

ATS Life Sciences Systems has subject matter expertise in the automated handling and assembly of medical devices, including IV catheter and valves.

Our experience with seal slitting, coupled with cam actuated equipment and ATS vision inspection capability, allowed us to deliver a solution that met the customer’s need for simultaneous handling of different parts, all at high rates of speed.

ATS addressed feeding and vision inspection issues better than the competition.
