The Comac Trophy goest to the Schooner Exact Brewing Co from Seattle.
Comac, official sponsor of the Brussel Beer Challenge since 2014, remembers with satisfaction the days spent in Anversa with 75 experts and 1,100 beers from all over the world. As main sponsor Comac assigns every year the Comac Trophy to one of the participating breweries. Last year it was given to Daniel Thwaites, a brewery in Blackburn.
This year the prize has been conferred to an American brewery, the Schooner Exact Brewing Co from Seattle for the great quality of its Hopvine India Pale Ale. Founded in 2006, from the idea of three friends who wanted to supply good beers to their nieghborhood, after just a few years it crossed the borders of West Seattle. Today they own a restaurant and sell beers in the States of Washington and Oregon and in the city of Tokyo.
Comac wants to celebrate the Schooner Exact Brewing Co conferring an other prize, an incredible sculpture made by an Italian artist, Luca Catò. It’s named La Pozione (The Potion) and it consists in a tower from with gushing drops made of clay representing the drops of a magic potion falling of a female smiling figure with open arms. A mystical and mysterious depiction that can be interpreted, as many Catò’s artworks, in different ways. It represents the meeting between different flavors and ingredients, symbolizing a sort of syllogism between beer and a magic potion.
